1. What was the first musical instrument you played? And at what age?
I began taking piano lessons at the age of 8. By the time I was 10, I started playing trumpet in the middle school band. When I turned 14, I fell in love with the drums.

Empecé las clases de piano a los 8 años, cuando tenía 10, empecé con la trompeta y a los 14, me enamoré de la batería
2. Apart from Shakira, tell us your other projects have now.
When I am not with Shakira, I spend a lot of my free time recording drums (and percussion) for various artists in Los Angeles and around the world. Some recent projects have been Danielle Rose, J.J. Lin, and Matthew & Jacob. I also help produce albums for friends such as Elsten Torres or Michael Miller. At the moment, I am preparing for a tour of Asia with a Taiwanese artist named Leehom Wang.
2. Aparte de Shakira, ¿Que proyectos tienes ahora?
Cuando no estoy con Shakira, paso mi tiempo libre grabando drums para varios artistas en los Angeles y alrededor del mundo. Algunos proyectos recientes con Danielle Rosa, J.J Lin y Matthew & Jacob. Produzco albunes para amigos como Elsen Torres o Michael Miller. Ahora mismo estoy preparando un tour por Asia con un artista Tailandes llamado Leehom Wang
3. How and where you met Shakira? Remember that time?
When I lived in Miami, I used to record drums at a Gloria Estefan's studio. I met Shakira there in 1998 during the recording of her album Dónde Están Los Ladrones. I remember the first three songs we worked on were … Ladrones, Si Te Vás, and Inevitable.
3. ¿Como y dónde conociste a Shakira?, ¿Te acuerdas?
Cuando vivía en Miami, Grabe drums en el estudio de Gloria Estefan. Conocí a Shakira en el 1998 durante la grabacion de su album Donde estan los ladrones. Recuerdo las tres primeras canciones en las que trabajamos, que fueron, DELL, si te vás e inevitable
4. Could you tell us how a normal day of touring for you?
My touring schedule depends on whether we are taking buses or airplanes from city to city. But in general, I wake up early in some hotel room, eat breakfast, exercise in the gym, go for a walk to see the city and take photos, eat lunch, deal with any business on my computer, shower, go to soundcheck, eat dinner, warm up (practice), change clothes, play a concert, return to the hotel… or airport… or tour bus.
4. ¿Puedes contarnos como es un día normal de tour para ti?
Mi "rutina" en un tour depende si cogemos autobus o aviones de ciudad en ciudad. Pero en general, me levanto temprano, desayuno, voy al gimnasio y camino por la ciudad para conocer la ciudad y tomar fotos. Como, estoy con el pc, me ducho, voy a la prueba de sonido, ceno, me cambio, toco en el concierto y vuelvo al hotel, o al aeropuerto o al bus.
5. What is and what has been in the past your relationship with Shakira over all these years? and how is it with the other members of the band as Olgui, Albert, Tim ...?
I get along very well with Tim, Albert, Olgui, and Shakira. After 13 years, we have become much like brothers and sisters. I have very strong friendships with many of the other members of the group too. Ben Peeler, Adam Zimmon, Jon Button, Joe Ayoub, Eric Holden, Grecco Buratto, Rafael Padilla, Dan Rothchild, and many more.
5. ¿Cual es y cual ha sido tu relación con Shakira en todos estos años? y ¿cómo es con los otros miembros de la banda como Olgui, Albert, Tim...?
Me llevo muy bien con Tim, Albert, Olgui y Shakira. Tras trece años, ya somos mucho mas que hermanos y hermanas. Tengo amistades muy fuertes con otros miembros de la banda tambien como Ben Peeler, Adam Zimmon, Jon Button, Joe Ayoub, Eric Holden, Grecco Buratto, Rafa Padilla, Dan Rothchild y muchos mas
6. What is your favorite song by Shakira? or the song you most like to play
For the current Sale El Sol tour, my favorite song to play is Antes De Las Seis. We, as a band, like playing Si Te Vas too. I personally enjoy the acoustic "unplugged" portion of the show also because I like playing ethnic percussion instruments as much as the drumset.
6. ¿Cual es tu canción favorita de Shakira o la que mas te gusta tocar?
De este tour, me encanta tocar "Antes de las seis". A nosotros, como banda, nos gusta tocar Si te vas tambien. Personalmente disfruto lo acustico "unplugged" del show porque me gusta tocar también la percusión étnica tanto como la batería
7. What part of this tour you prefer? and, what was the concert in the one you have fun?
I love traveling so much that I would have a difficult time picking my favorite city, country, or segment of this tour. In the USA, many of my friends and family come to see the concerts. In Europe, I do a lot of walking and sight-seeing. In Central and South America, the fans are very enthusiastic. And, whenever I sit behind a drumset, I have fun!
7. ¿Que parte de este tour prefieres? y ¿Cual fue el concierto en el que mas te divertiste?
Amo viajar no puedo elegir una ciudad, un pais o un segmento del tour. En USA, muchos amigos y familia vinieron a ver el concierto, en Europa, camino un montón y hago turismo. En America central y del sur los fans son muy entusiastas. Cada vez que me siento en la batería me divierto.
8. What admire about Shakira?
She is a very driven person.
8. ¿Qué admiras de Shakira?
Es una persona muy motivada
